Roseville Police are investigating the shooting of a 19-year-old man who refuses to tell investigators who he is, officials said Tuesday.

Police Chief James Berlin said officers were called at about 8 p.m. Monday to a home in the 18000 block of Lakeworth Street near 14 Mile and Gratiot Avenue to respond to a shooting.

Officers arrived and found the 19-year-old, who is believed to be a Roseville resident, with a gunshot wound to his upper right thigh, he said.

Berlin said the man refused to answer any of the police officers' questions, including giving them his name.

The police chief said it's not clear if the man was involved in any nefarious activity that led to the shooting. However, he said detectives received an anonymous tip the shooting was over an unpaid debt, but police do not know if the victim owes the money or if he was trying to collect it.

He also said witnesses told police there were 10 other people at the residence and all of them refuse to cooperate.

The shooting victim was taken to a hospital to be treated, Berlin said, and he is expected to recover.
