A 28-year-old Macomb Township man early Friday morning was struck and killed by a truck as he walked in the roadway, police said.

Macomb County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating the crash and have identified the victim as Antony Levon Cook.

Police said they received a call at about 3 a.m. Friday about a man walking in the roadway in the 23 Mile and North Avenue area.

As deputies tried to locate the man, they received word that a truck struck a pedestrian nearby, officials said.

Deputies located the victim and the driver of a 2015 Ford pickup truck that was traveling north on North Avenue when it struck him, according to authorities.

The driver, a 35-year-old Macomb Township man, was released pending further investigation, police said. They also said it doesn't appear at this time drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
