The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said the office was having issues with the 911 call system Tuesday evening.

The emergency calls are being received by the department but are being rerouted to an administrative line instead of emergency response, according to a news release.

Due to the redirection, the dispatcher does not automatically know the caller's location, which usually is displayed when an emergency call comes in.

Callers immediately should give their location to the dispatcher while the 911 calls are being temporarily answered on the administrative line, the department said.

The office believes it is a local issue with cellular carriers and they are working to correct the issue, it said.

Callers who are unable to get through to 911 should contact the department at (586) 469-5502.
