A 28-year-old man is in temporary serious condition after being shot at a basketball game Monday night on Detroit's west side, police said.

The shooting took place about 9 p.m. in a parking lot at the Adams Butzel Recreation Complex, said Sgt. Nicole Kirkwood, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman. That's at Meyers and Lyndon, which is south of Fenkell.

The victim had been playing basketball when someone fired shots, police say, and at least one of them hit the victim. After being privately conveyed to an area hospital, the victim was listed in temporary serious condition.

Police are investigating.
