Authorities Friday continued their search for bodies buried under a rural area in Macomb Township. The search is in its fifth day.

"We're out there today," Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said Friday. "We've moved the search out a little more towards the field area, it's a little more visible."

He said investigators have brought in a grader to the area.

"We're in full gear," Dwyer said. "It's just a very difficult search because of the time element, the size of the area. It's not an easy search."

Rain in the forecast for the weekend also will not help.

"If we don't make some sort of discovery today, we'll probably terminate the search until Monday," Dwyer said.

Law enforcement officers are searching a 24-acre site near 23 Mile and North Avenue for the remains of up to six teenage girls that could be buried there. They began searching at the location Monday.

The body of 13-year-old Cindy Zarzycki, an Eastpointe girl who disappeared in 1986, was found at the same site about 10 years ago.

Police were directed to the area by Arthur Nelson Ream, who at that time was in prison for the rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Investigators learned Cindy knew Ream’s son and met the elder Ream at a Dairy Queen on Nine Mile in Eastpointe when she disappeared April 20, 1986.

Ream, who was arrested and convicted in Zarzycki's murder in 2008, is serving a life prison sentence.

On Wednesday, Dwyer said investigators believe the remains of Kimberly King of Warren, who disappeared at the age of 12 in September 1979, were disposed of at the site and Ream is a "person of interest in the disappearance of Kimberly and other teenage girls."

He said police re-opened the case on Kimberly’s disappearance last fall. They are also investigating an unsolved case involving Kellie Brownlee, who was 17 when she was last seen at Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi in 1982.

As part of the investigation, detectives interviewed Ream, gave him a lie-detector test that he failed and spoke with his fellow inmates.
