A 27-year-old man walking in New Baltimore late Friday night died after being struck by a vehicle, police said.

Chesterfield Township Police, who assisted New Baltimore Police, are investigating the incident that occurred at 11:20 p.m.at Jefferson Avenue and Roselawn Street.

Police said James Andromalos, from Chesterfield Township, was fatally struck by a 32-year-old man driving a 2015 Toyota Camry.

The driver called the Chesterfield 911 dispatch to report he had struck a pedestrian while driving north bound on Jefferson at Roselawn.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated during the investigation, police said. He told police he didn't see the man in the roadway until he struck him.

The investigation is ongoing and police said alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be contributing factors in the accident.
