Center Line police are investigating Wednesday after an early morning shooting left two people injured, officials said.

Paul Myszenski, director of the Center Line Public Safety Department, said the shooting happened at about 4 a.m. in the area of Van Dyke Avenue and Theisen Street.

An 18-year-old male and 17-year-old male sustained non-life-threatening wounds in the shooting. One of the victims was shot in the shoulder and the other was shot in the leg, according to Myszenski.

Both victims were privately conveyed to an area hospital for treatment with one of them already being released

Myszenski said a preliminary investigation shows the shooting stemmed from a party being held at the Red Roof Inn on Dequindre near Interstate 696 in Warren.

He said the party apparently got out of hand, Warren Police were called to shut it down and the partygoers left in various vehicles.

Some of the vehicles stopped at the corner of Van Dyke and Theisen in Center Line where a crowd gathered, he said.

A fight broke out among the crowd and a person inside one of the vehicles fired four or five rounds out of the window at the group, striking the two men, police said.

Myszenski said investigators are collecting video surveillance from the area and interviewing witnesses.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call Det. Sgt. Mike Gerald with the Center Line Police Department at (586) 757-2200.
