A driver was injured on the Fourth of July in a rollover crash on M-53 in Shelby Township, police reported.

The 39-year-old Warren man was entering the southbound ramp for the highway near 26 Mile about 1:50 p.m. when he lost control of his 2001 Ford pickup, investigators said in a statement.

The truck tumbled down an embankment, and the motorist was ejected, according to the release.

The man was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. No one else was inside the vehicle.

Police still are investigating the incident, which briefly shut down M-53, but believe alcohol played a role.

Witnesses are asked to call the township traffic investigator at (586) 731-2121, ext. 413.
