A 59-year-old man has been charged for seeking sex with someone he believed was a teen girl, Macomb County Sheriff's officials announced Friday.

Billy Goldsmith had sought a "hookup" through a social media page controlled by detectives with the sheriff’s Macomb Area Computer Enforcement unit, investigators said in a statement.

Although told he was messaging a 14-year-old, the Holly resident "continued to make inappropriate sexual conversation," sent photographs of male genitalia and requested to meet for a rendezvous, according to the release.

Undercover MACE detectives gave him an address in Harrison Township. When Goldsmith showed up around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, authorities arrested him.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office authorized seven charges: four counts of child sexually abusive activity and one of using computers/Internet to communicate with another to commit crime, both 20-year felonies; one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes, a four-year felony; and one count of using computers to commit a crime, a seven-year felony.

Goldsmith was arraigned Friday in the 41-B Clinton Township District Court in Clinton Township.

Bond was set at $250,000. If released from Macomb County Jail, Goldsmith must remain on a tether for home confinement and is barred from contacting minors or using computers, prosecutors said.

His next court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 8.
