Motorcyclist critically hurt in Chesterfield Twp. collision
A motorcyclist was injured Tuesday after colliding with a truck on 21 Mile in Chesterfield Township, police said.
The 61-year-old resident was riding his 2001 Harley-Davidson west near Interstate 94 when a man driving a 2015 GMC pickup in the opposite direction "made a left hand turn in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision," investigators said in a statement.
The motorcyclist was thrown and sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the release. Medics transported him to McLaren Macomb Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, officials reported.
The truck driver, a 58-year-old Redford Township resident, remained at the scene and told officers "he simply did not see the motorcycle as he attempted to turn into the Speedway gas station from 21 Mile Road," police said.
