Sterling Heights police are investigating an attempted workplace shooting late Saturday night.

It was about 11:15 p.m. when police got a 911 call to SAS Automotive, on the 42500 block of Merrill, which is south of 19 Mile and east of Mound Road.

An employee had returned to it after work and argued with his supervisor. He then went back to his vehicle, pulled out a handgun and brought it inside, chasing the supervisor with the gun and firing at least one round.

By the time police arrived, the suspect was long gone, having fled to Detroit. Later in the evening, Detroit police found the man,  arrested him and turned him over to Sterling Heights police. He's jailed at the police station pending charges. He is expected to be arraigned this week.
