A 21-year-old man from Madison Heights was slain Saturday in a shootout that took place outside of a barbershop in Warren's first reported homicide of 2018.

Warren Police Commission Bill Dwyer said the shootout took place about noon on Saturday, at a barbershop on the 4850 block of East Nine Mile, west of Mound Road.

The victim was inside the shop when an acquaintance entered the shop and called him to come outside. He obliged.

While outside, the victim and another man fired shots at one another. The victim was struck multiple times and died from his injuries.

Police haven't made any arrests as yet, but are looking at suspects. Dwyer said it's possible more information will be released Monday.
