Clinton Township man denied bond in double slaying
The brother of an 18-year-old Clinton Township woman whose lifeless body was found inside a shed last month was formally charged Monday with killing her and her boyfriend and ordered held without bond.
On Aug. 26, Danielle Marzejka,18, and her boyfriend Seren Bryan, 19, were found inside a shed behind the woman’s home in Rudgate, a Clinton Township mobile home community. Her father and a 14-year-old brother had noticed a strong smell and swarming flies at the shed.
The woman’s older brother, Robert Leo Marzejka, 24, was arraigned Monday on two counts of first-degree premeditated murder via video from the Macomb County Jail .
Magistrate Ryan Zemke of Clinton Township's 41-B District Court entered not-guilty pleas on Marzejka’s behalf and ordered him held without bond pending a Sept. 17 probable cause conference before District Judge Sebastian Lucido. A preliminary examination is set for Sept. 24.
The charges are punishable by life in prison without parole.
Marzejka was arrested by U.S. Marshals without incident at a library in Cincinnati on Aug. 29, according to Clinton Township Police. His van was recovered in Toledo. Police have no motive in the deaths.
The suspect has been diagnosed as bipolar, according to police, and potentially harmful to himself and others. Family had attempted to have him committed to a hospital in 2015 but the petition was dismissed in January 2018.
