Suspect arrested in Roseville motel heist

Roseville Police on Friday arrested a 26-year-old man from Detroit in connection with an armed robbery of a motel.
Police said the suspect was taken into custody without incident at 5 p.m., a day after the incident occurred at the Microtel on 13 Mile near Little Mack.
Police said the suspect entered the motel's lobby at 1 a.m. Thursday, carrying a gas can and told the clerk his car broke down. He then walked out of the lobby and returned minutes later with a gun, officials said.
The suspect demanded the clerk, who is pregnant, open the cash register and give him all of the money inside, police said.
Several witnesses were in the lobby at the time and were ordered at gun-point to turn over their cell phones to the suspect, according to officials.
The suspect fled the motel on foot in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported, police said.
The man is expected to be arraigned Monday on armed robbery charges and for weapon violations, police said.
