Clinton Township police are searching for the thieves who stole an automated teller machine Monday after crashing a vehicle into a gas station's front door, officials said.

Clinton Township Police Lt. Eric Reincke said officers received a 911 call at 3:40 a.m. Monday about a vehicle repeatedly ramming into the front of a Sunoco gas station located on Harper Avenue at 15 Mile.

He said the department also received an alert that the business' security alarm had been triggered.

Officers arrived at the gas station to find the front door and part of the wall of the store had been pushed in, Reincke said.

They also found an abandoned and damaged Dodge Caravan, which investigators said was used to get inside the store, he said. Police believe the suspects left with the store's ATM in another vehicle.

Detectives are investigating the theft, Reincke said.

At this time, they do not have any descriptions of the suspects, but they will be reviewing footage from the gas station's security surveillance system.

Reincke also said investigators learned the minivan used in the robbery was reported stolen from nearby Harrison Township.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects should call Clinton Township Police at (586) 286-8000.
