ATF offers $5K reward in 2017 arson at MDOC office
Roseville — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an arsonist who torched a Michigan Department of Corrections office in Roseville in May 2017.
The reward was announced Wednesday morning via Twitter.
Officials are asking for the public's help in developing leads in the May 3, 2017, incident, which took place on the 15900 block of 12 Mile. That's west of Groesbeck. Some $1.3 million of damage was incurred during the fire.
A brand new parole office burned, said Chris Gautz, a spokesman for the MDOC. Because the fire took place at night, after-hours, no one was there to be harmed.
The fire forced MDOC to seek out a temporary space, but it's been back in that office since February, Gautz said.
The ATF asks that tipsters share what they know at 1-888-ATF-TIPS.
