Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel said Friday he has appointed Vicki Wolber a deputy county executive.

Wolber will focus on issues relating to public safety while also assisting in the day-to-day operations of county departments and services, he said.

She has worked for the county for more than 18 years and most recently served as director of the county's Emergency Management and Communications Department.

“Vicki has been a tremendous resource for Macomb County through her longtime service in emergency management and communications,” Hackel said in a statement. “She is a strong leader with impressive credentials and I am thrilled to appoint her to the deputy executive position. Looking ahead, I am confident that she will use her extensive experience and insights to deliver effective services and programming for residents.”

Wolber succeeds Kathy Bartz, who joined Hackel's executive team in 2015 and left in December 2017.

Hackel has three other deputy executives: Chief Deputy County Executive Mark Deldin, Deputy County Executive Al Lorenzo and Deputy County Executive Pam Lavers.
