Stevenson High student struck by car outside school has broken pelvis

Sterling Heights — A student will need surgery after she was struck while walking to class at Stevenson High Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred at 7:30 a.m. while the female student was crossing Dodge Park Road in the crosswalk at Falcon Drive. She was walking westbound across Dodge Park Road when she was hit by a car driving northbound. 

The student was conscious and alert as Sterling Heights Fire Department treated her for hip and leg pain, police said. 

She was taken to the hospital for a broken pelvis and is in stable condition, police said.

Officials do not believe speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
