1 dead, 2 hurt in Shelby Township crash

Investigation found Jeep collided with Dodge Ram at about 10:55 a.m. Monday.

A driver died and two people were injured in a car crash early Monday in Shelby Township, police said.

A preliminary investigation found an 84-year-old man driving a 2019 Jeep Cherokee had been crossing the eastbound lanes of 26 Mile near the Stony Creek Metropark entrance at about 10:55 a.m. when the SUV collided with a 2016 Dodge Ram.

The Jeep driver, was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead. His passenger, also an 84-year-old township resident, was hospitalized with critical injuries, investigators said.

The Dodge driver, a 26-year-old from Armada, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
