Man dies testing ultralight being offered for sale in western Michigan
Vergennes Township, Mich. — Authorities in western Michigan say that a man has died in the crash of an ultralight aircraft that was being offered for sale.
Kent County sheriff’s Sgt. Russ Larson says the crash happened about 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Lowell Airport. It’s in Vergennes Township, about 15 miles east of Grand Rapids.
Larson says the man drove from out-of-state to test the airplane, which an area resident was selling.
Witnesses say the would-be buyer took off successfully once but crashed while trying a second takeoff.
The victim’s name wasn’t immediately released.
