Grand Rapids — A Grand Rapids woman has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty after authorities seized 37 dogs from her home.

The Grand Rapids Press reports 32-year-old Kimberly Savino entered the plea Wednesday in a deal that prohibits her from owning any new dogs. She faces a few months of jail time as well as a $2,000 fine and community service.

She pleaded guilty to a charge of cruelty and neglect to less than 10 animals.

Kent County Animal Control seized the dogs in June. They were adopted or placed with rehabilitation facilities. The judge says the dogs had been kept in “absolutely filthy and disgusting” conditions.
