West Michigan boy, 15, struck by car
Holland Township — A 15-year-old western Michigan boy has been struck and killed by a car.
Police identified the victim as Jonathan Bracamontes.
They say the West Ottawa High School student was crossing a highway in Holland Township around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday when he was hit.
Ottawa County sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Austin says the car’s driver continued to her job in Holland, saw the damage to her vehicle and called police about five minutes after the crash.
Deputies found the boy lying in the median. He died at the scene.
The driver is a 64-year-old Grand Haven resident. She told authorities she was traveling in the left lane on a green light when something ran out in front of her.
Once the investigation is complete, police will forward reports to prosecutors for review.
