Say it ain't snow

The Detroit News

It may be the first week of October, but already snow was falling in Michigan's lower peninsula on Saturday.

The National Weather Service consistently reported light snow in Bellaire falling from about 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, with temperatures in the lower 40s. Bellaire is about 30 miles northeast of Traverse City.

Drier conditions were moving into northern Michigan overnight, so no significant additional snowfall was expected.

The weather service wasn't predicting any snow for Metro Detroit, as the air mass overhead begins to dry out.

After lows in reaching into the upper 30s overnight, there's a chance of rain Sunday. Temperatures are expected to reach a high in the low 50s and the low 60s Monday with a chance of rain each day through Wednesday.
