Muskegon Heights — Police say they’re investigating two apparent homicides of women in their 60s at homes about three blocks apart in western Michigan.

Police in Muskegon Heights say the body of 63-year-old Anna Lawson was found about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. Chief Lynne Gill says an autopsy was planned, but it appears that she was stabbed.

Lawson was discovered by her longtime friend, Kimberly Bradford, who tells The Muskegon Chronicle she checked on her after she didn’t pick her up as expected. She says the two-story home was ransacked.

Meanwhile, police say the body of 62-year-old Judy Bushman was found inside a home around 9:25 a.m. Tuesday after police were called by relatives to check on her well-being. Sgt. Marvin Petty says it’s too soon to say whether the deaths are connected.
