Grand Rapids — A dog missing for roughly eight months in western Michigan turned up a few miles from home.

WOOD-TV reports that Kami had been rescued from a hoarding situation and was placed with Kristi Powers, who works for Lake Haven Animal Rescue.

After Kami went missing from a yard, a search was launched. People passed out fliers and a social media campaign was launched.

Powers says the recent discovery of the dog came as a surprise. She says some had “kind of given up” on the possibility that the dog would be found.
