Fire chief: Toddler starts Flint apartment fire
Flint — Fire authorities say nine people have been displaced after a 3-year-old boy started a fire at an apartment complex.
The Flint Journal reports fire Battalion Chief Shawn Borowicz said the toddler was playing with matches in the lower level of a building in a Flint apartment complex Monday morning. He says the boy’s mother was doing laundry at the time.
Borowicz says it’s unknown what originally caught fire but the blaze spread through two of four apartments in the building. Flint fire crews were pulled from a nearby market fire to the apartments.
No injuries were reported. The nine displaced people include five children ages 2 to 9.
