Menominee — Menominee County authorities say a 19-year-old man has been shot and killed after he and two other men broke into an Upper Peninsula home.

Sheriff Kenny Marks said the 62-year-old homeowner defended himself early Monday after hearing the men breaking in and calling 911. He says authorities found the 19-year-old dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. They captured the two other men in the woods near the home in Mellen Township.

Authorities haven’t released their names. Marks says an autopsy will be conducted.

He says the two suspects being held at the Menominee County Jail are 19 and 20 years old. They face possible charges of home invasion, breaking and entering and larceny.

Authorities are investigating the case.
