Boy in school gun case due in court
Traverse City — A fifth-grader accused of bringing a loaded gun to school in northern Michigan is returning to court with a plea deal on the table.
The boy is charged with three crimes. But a guilty plea to one could close the case and give him a chance to clear his record in the years ahead. A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in Grand Traverse County.
The boy was 11 in September when another student at Kingsley Middle School told a teacher about the weapon. The pistol had one bullet. No one was hurt at the school, southeast of Traverse City.
The boy has been expelled from Kingsley Middle.
