Mich. man to be evaluated in deaths
Orange Township — A northern Lower Peninsula man accused of fatally shooting his wife and father-in-law will undergo competency and criminal responsibility evaluations.
WPBN-TV reports 40-year-old Keith Ferguson faces open murder, firearms and other charges in Kalkaska District Court. His attorney, Kyle Trevis, asked for the evaluations on Monday and a judge granted the requests.
Trevis says it could take about a month to receive the results of the evaluations.
Authorities say Ferguson has made incriminating admissions in the killings and his children witnessed one of the shootings. He was arrested last week after he released a hostage and left a home in Orange Township where he had barricaded himself inside for five or six hours.
Ferguson remains in the Kalkaska County Jail on $10 million bond.
