North Michigan couple found shot
Hayes Township — Authorities say a 65-year-old man and his 45-year-old wife died of gunshot wounds at their northern Michigan home, and they say there’s no apparent danger to area residents.
Clair County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski identifies them as Gerald and Brenda Echelsbarger. The undersheriff says that the county’s central dispatch center got a call about 8 a.m. Friday after a relative discovered the bodies at a home in Hayes Township.
The home is near Harrison and about 30 miles north of Mount Pleasant in the northern Lower Peninsula.
The sheriff’s department has issued a statement that doesn’t say who fired the shots, only that “investigators don’t have concern that the community is at any risk.”
