Police: Big Rapids man shot arrows at officers
Big Rapids — A 27-year-old Big Rapids is facing 12 felony counts after authorities say he shot arrows at police officers while they were investigating an earlier assault.
Wesley Snyder was charged Tuesday with two counts of attempted murder, seven counts of felonious assault and three counts of felony assaulting/resisting/obstructing police. He’s being held on $5 million bond.
According to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department, Snyder ambushed Big Rapids officers with a bow and arrow last week when they went to his apartment to take his statement about a Jan. 10 assault in the complex. The department says Snyder charged at the officers, causing himself and Sgt. Jim Eddinger to fall down a flight of stairs.
The sheriff’s department is investigating the incident as an outside agency.
It wasn’t immediately known if Snyder has an attorney yet.
