— Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has filed charges of carrying a concealed weapon and resisting police but no assault count against a motorist after a shooting that left him and a Flint-area officer wounded.

Christopher A. Washington, 55, was arraigned Wednesday.

Leyton says in a statement that the charges stem from an “incident that left both Washington and the officer hospitalized with gunshot wounds.”

Flint Township police Lt. Jim Baldwin told the Flint Journal a scuffle occurred during a traffic stop Friday night. Baldwin said the man pulled a gun and shot the officer. The lieutenant said other officers arrived and police shot the motorist.
