Frankenmuth Township — A bridge is being replaced near Frankenmuth after being closed due to structural deficiencies found during a routine inspection.

The Saginaw News reports replacement of the South Dehmel Road Bridge across Dead Creek in Saginaw County’s Frankenmuth Township is expected to wrap up this year.

The contract for the bridge, which costs more than $710,000, was awarded to Grand River Construction Inc. of Hudsonville.

Work began in late December. The bridge is expected to open for traffic in late May, with full restoration completed by the end of August.
