2 charged with lying in missing case
Monroe — Authorities say two people have been charged with lying to investigators about the disappearance of a 22-year-old Maybee woman.
The Monroe News reports police have received more than 600 tips from the public since Chelsea Bruck went missing three months ago. Police say at least two of those reports involved sources who concocted stories about what they saw or knew about her disappearance.
According to Monroe County Prosecutor William Paul Nichols, a 29-year-old Ohio woman was charged Tuesday with lying to a police officer. She reportedly told detectives that her ex-boyfriend killed Bruck and dumped her body in a cemetery.
Sgt. Jeff Pauli says a 19-year-old Flat Rock man also has been charged with the same crime after allegedly reporting he saw two men harass and drive off with Bruck during a Halloween party in Frenchtown Township.
