Power restored following multi-county outage

Stanton — Power has been restored to several thousand homes and businesses in four Michigan counties that were left without electrical service.

TV stations WOOD and WZZM say the outage was reported to CMS Energy Corp.’s Consumers Energy unit on Monday night and restored a few hours later.

The Consumers Energy power outage map showed that at one point more than 8,100 customers were without service in Isabella, Mecosta, Montcalm and Newaygo counties. Montcalm County was the most severely affected, with more than 5,500 affected.

Consumers Energy says the outage was caused by a problem with a large distribution line in Montcalm County that brings power to several communities.
