Police await cause of death for man found in tent

Ann Arbor — Police are awaiting details on the cause of death for a 39-year-old man found dead in a tent near Ann Arbor’s Amtrak station.

The Ann Arbor News reports police Chief John Seto updated city council members Wednesday about the man’s death, which was discovered Monday. Seto says cause of death for the apparently homeless man doesn’t appear to be exposure, however.

Officers were called to the scene by the man’s girlfriend and her father. There was a heating source in the tent, but it wasn’t turned on.

The Washtenaw County Medical Examiner’s Office plans to release a cause of death after toxicology tests are complete, which could take a few weeks.
