Group to give away 200 cases of bottled water in Flint
Flint — Community activists have scheduled another water giveaway for Flint residents amid concerns over the city’s water supply.
The M.A.D.E. Institute is giving free cases of water away from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Second Chance Baptist Church in Flint. Leon El-Alamin tells MLive.com the group plans to have at least 200 cases of bottled water to give away on a first-come, first-served basis.
El-Alamin says the cases were gone within the first 15 or 20 minutes of the group’s last water giveaway two weeks ago.
The city of Flint, which currently gets tap water from the Flint River, has been trying to address complaints about the water’s smell, taste and appearance.
Although the city says the water is safe, the federal government has cited Flint for high levels of a disinfectant by-product.
