Baldwin — The Lake County Central Dispatch has issued a boil water advisory for Baldwin residents.

Jim Truxton of the Baldwin Village Council says the notice went into effect Sunday morning after officials discovered a low water supply in the towers. He says it was due to a broken pipe that caused a communication problem between the towers and well houses.

Truxton says the advisory was issued as a precaution until the water supply can be tested. He says the advisory will be lifted if the water samples are clean.

Residents of Shelby and Pentwater also have been advised to run a thin, continuous stream of cold water to keep water lines from freezing.
