Owendale — A parolee has been arrested after 797 packs of stolen cigarettes were found inside an old television at a Michigan home where he once lived.

The Saginaw News and WNEM-TV report 57-year-old Thomas Jaffray was arraigned Wednesday on breaking and entering and receiving and concealing stolen property charges.

The owner of the home in the Huron County community of Owendale, about 90 miles north of Detroit, also found 22 hidden bottles of liquor.

The cigarettes and liquor were found Sunday. They’re worth about $5,000 and were among up to $20,000 in items taken from an Owendale market in 2013.

Jaffray is on parole for vehicle theft and kidnapping. He’s jailed on bond pending a March 27 preliminary examination.

The Associated Press left a message Thursday seeking comment from Jaffray’s lawyer.
