Highs near 70 expected Monday in Metro area

Get ready for a warm up but don’t put away that winter coat just yet.

Monday’s temperature is expected to reach a high near 68 with partly sunny skies in Detroit, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures at 8 a.m. are expected to be 42 degrees, climb to 53 by 11 a.m. and reach 67 by 5 p.m., according to the weather service’s forecast graphics.

But don’t get too excited. Tuesday’s high is expected only to be near 47, with mostly cloudy skies turning sunny.

Temperatures Sunday reached 54 degrees by 3 p.m. A high of 77 was recorded on that day in 2012.

The low Sunday was 35 at 7:10 a.m.
