Orleans Township — Authorities are working to determine the cause of a weekend fire in Ionia County that left a 78-year-old man dead.

The sheriff’s department says a neighbor called 911 early Saturday to report a chimney fire in Orleans Township and the homeowner, Charles Ring, also called. Fire crews responded and found Ring’s body inside the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crews from a number of agencies responded to the fire scene. Authorities say the cause of the fire isn’t considered suspicious.
