2 charged with overdosing hospitalized woman

Associated Press

Traverse City — Authorities have filed charges against two people they accuse of injecting a drug overdose into a woman while she was a patient at a Traverse City hospital.

Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Bob Cooney says he filed drug delivery and conspiracy charges against Steven Sulz, 32, and Renee Huckle, 35. Their arraignment is expected Tuesday, and they don’t yet have lawyers of record.

Authorities say the two gave an overdose of a synthetic narcotic to a 27-year-old woman in her room at Munson Medical Center last Wednesday.

They say medical personnel found the woman unconscious, but revived her with a drug used to counteract the narcotic.

The victim says she fell asleep while the suspects were visiting her and woke up to be told she’d gone into cardiac arrest.
