A vigil is planned Tuesday night at a Monroe County church for Chelsea Bruck, who disappeared six months ago and was found dead Friday.

The memorial event for Bruck, 22, is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Parish, 9207 Joseph St., Maybee, according to a post on the Facebook page "Help Find Chelsea Bruck."

"Thank you to everyone for your kind words and prayer during this difficult time," said Chelsea's sister, Kassie Rinne, in a Facebook post Monday. "We worked tirelessly for 6 months to find Chelsea and an answer and she has been returned to us now. Our faith is strong and we continue to put everything in God's hands."

Rinne said there would be a delay in arrangements up to a month.

"In the meantime, all are invited to join us (Tuesday) evening for a candlelight vigil for Chelsea at the family's home parish in Maybee," Rinne said.

Bruck's body was found Friday at a construction site in a wooded area near railroad tracks about 12 miles from where she was last seen at a Frenchtown Township party Oct. 26.

Authorities consider the case a homicide, though a cause of death has not been established. Investigators say that could take weeks.

For months, hundreds of volunteers searched for Bruck, staging rallies, vigils and public prayers.
