The oldest daughter of former U.S. Rep. John Dingell has died after a battle with lymphoma, her family said.

Jeanne P. Dingell’s death was confirmed Friday in a statement released by the office of U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Dearborn, who took over the 12th Congressional District from her husband once he retired.

Relatives issued a statement: “The family is saddened by the unexpected death this morning. Jeanne was a wife and mother, a daughter, sister and friend who was taken far too soon. She has been living in Poland and funeral arrangements are being determined. The family appreciates everyone’s friendship and support and asks for privacy during this difficult time.”

Besides her father, Jeanne Dingell is survived by her mother, Helen Henebry Dingell; husband, Romy Lagodka; two children, Robin and Romy; two brothers, John D. Dingell III and Christopher Dingell; and a sister, Jennifer Dingell.
