Man apparently inadvertently leads deputies on pursuit
Mount Pleasant — Authorities say a man in his 60s who apparently didn’t know he was supposed to pull over led mid-Michigan sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit.
Gratiot County Sheriff Doug Wright tells the Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant one of his deputies was conducting a traffic stop at the Gratiot-Isabella county line along U.S. 127 on Thursday when a Lansing-area man drove by too close and too fast.
Wright says the deputy pursued the driver at highway speeds. Several patrol cars eventually boxed in the vehicle in the Mount Pleasant area.
Wright says there was “absolutely no malicious intent” and the driver apologized.
Regardless, the man was given a notice to appear in court for failing to stop for police and passing a parked emergency vehicle in an unsafe manner.
