Tornado touchdown confirmed in Michigan storms
Vernon Township — The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down earlier this week as severe thunderstorms storms moved across Michigan.
The EF-0 tornado with winds around 65 mph happened Monday night in Shiawassee County’s Vernon Township. No injuries were reported.
The weather service says the damage was limited to a barn at a farm and some trees. The tornado traveled a path on the ground of about a quarter-mile.
Meanwhile, more thunderstorms are forecast Wednesday. They come after heavy rains caused flash flooding on Sunday in several communities, including in the Ann Arbor area. Flood warnings remain in effect along rivers in parts of Michigan.
