Deputies shoot man suspected of stabbing grandma
Erie Township — Authorities say sheriff’s deputies in southeastern Michigan shot and wounded a man who was suspected of stabbing his grandmother in the bathroom of a mobile home.
The Monroe News reports the 30-year-old man was shot in the face Thursday but is expected to survive.
Michigan State Police 1st Lt. Tony Cuevas says the 68-year-old woman was stabbed once in the back of the neck and again in the face with a kitchen knife in the bathroom of her home in Monroe County’s Erie Township. She was listed in critical but stable condition.
The newspaper says she fled to a neighbor’s home.
Cuevas says deputies were trying to protect themselves by shooting the man, who was in a bath tub and appeared to be raising what was believed to be a weapon.
