Body of man, 65, found in Arenac County lake

Alger — Authorities say the body of a 65-year-old man who disappeared while swimming over the weekend has been found in a lake in Arenac County.

Sheriff James Mosciski tells WSGW-AM that Dennis Paulson was trying to get back to a pontoon boat on Sunday evening when he had trouble breathing and sank beneath the surface of Forest Lake.

WNEM-TV reports the swimmer’s wife was on the boat and apparently turned around to throw him a life jacket, but he was already gone.

Dive teams were hampered by deep and murky waters as they searched the lake about 130 miles northwest of Detroit. The body was found on Monday afternoon.
