U-M student dies after falling through glass roof
Ann Arbor — Police are calling the death of a 21-year-old University of Michigan student a “tragic accident” after the victim fell through the glass roof of the Nickels Arcade early Friday morning.
“The man had climbed up the fire escape to the top of the roughly three-story structure around 2:20 a.m. with a female acquaintance,” said D/Lt. Robert Pfannes in a press release. “The man, who was from Saugatuck, was taken to an area hospital where he died of injuries suffered in the fall.”
The pair had crossed the glass ceiling once and were attempting to return when the unidentified student fell through the ceiling.
His female acquaintance was uninjured.
The arcade, which is located on S. State Street at North University Avenue, remains closed. The incident remains under investigation.
