Body found in lake in northern Michigan
Cedar — Authorities say a body has been found in a lake in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula near where a swimmer was reported missing by boaters.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle and TV station WWTV report the body found Wednesday night in Lake Leelanau was identified as that of 56-year-old John Gleason of Lake Ann. The newspaper says he served as senior pastor at Inland Baptist Church in Interlochen.
Chris Sharp, a deacon at the church, says: “We love him. We miss him bad already.”
The search began after two men and two women went swimming from a boat off Kelenski Point near Cedar, about 10 miles northwest of Traverse City. The 20-foot boat drifted away and the group swam to retrieve it, but the Leelanau County sheriff’s department says the man disappeared.
